Jean Charasse was born in 1941 in Lapalisse (Allier). From 1955 he began to paint while continuing his studies. Figurative works pastel, oil painting and cardboard collage. From 1979 to 1980 he exhibited regularly at the Galerie du Dragon in Paris and collaborated with the Atelier Fine de Moustiers in the creation of contemporary faïences. The figuration, from 1990, disappears from his work and with materials of recovery he creates geometrical compositions in which vertical curves and diagonals structure the space. He exhibited from 1993 to 1999 at the Alexandre de La Salle gallery in Saint Paul de Vence where he met Carmelo Arden Quin. His work evolves and is close to the Constructed Art. 1998, first participation in the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in Paris. From 2004 he became a member of the MADI Movement.
MADI is a great artistic adventure, and perhaps, the only existing movement which can justify half a century of existence. MADI is more than an avant-garde movement; it has an underlying wave with several and differing offspring. It is the slow-paced growth of a tectonic plate in the history of art. Indeed, since art and environment are perveived as the fusion of two cultural phenomena, the progression and expression of both of these blend in everyday life.
