An artist and educator and authority on colour theory in art and design and on books about colour, Roy first published ‘Lights and Pigments’ in 1980 and ‘Color Influencing Form’ in 2004. He has been associated with Don’s Micro Academy since 1986 and has contributed to its colour-information website (ColorAcademy.co.uk). He has lectured on art and design and art history at some 200 institutions worldwide, also contributing to synopsis organized by the Royal College of Art (London), Pratt Institute (New York), and Interalia (Bristol). In the picture, Roy is shown wearing the insignia of the Colour Group (Great Britain), as its chairman 1995-97. He was also chairman 2004-07, and was awarded its Turner Medal in 2003. He is an exhibiting artist and is currently a member of the New Constructivists artists group.
