Mary was born to Greek parents in Larnaca, Cyprus, and moved to London at the five years old, where she continues to live. She was educated in the Chelsea School of Art and the Byam Shaw School of Art, in London. Byam Shaw was part of several art schools that eventually joined to become the University of the Arts London in 2004.
She now exhibits with the New Constructivists of London, and was part of a MADI exhibit in 2004.
Her paintings are built up in layers over time with subtle shifts of tone/color, employing techniques as seem necessary in the moment. Mary’s art is not static, and is constantly evolving; paintings grow one from the other. Mary operates from her East London studio, and has exhibited regularly since 1985, mainly in London.
MADI is a great artistic adventure, and perhaps, the only existing movement which can justify half a century of existence. MADI is more than an avant-garde movement; it has an underlying wave with several and differing offspring. It is the slow-paced growth of a tectonic plate in the history of art. Indeed, since art and environment are perveived as the fusion of two cultural phenomena, the progression and expression of both of these blend in everyday life.
